Firriato's Favinia La Muciara is made from native Grillo, Catarratto, and Zibibbo grapes grown in the Calamoni vineyard on the island of Favignana. It's a wine that reflects the soul of this unique and extreme terroir. The grapes are grown at sea level, just 10 meters from the vineyard, which rests on layers of Quaternary biocalcarenite, stratified over the centuries at sedimentation rates of about half a meter. Among Calamoni's agricultural practices, Firriato uses Posidonia oceanica as a natural fertilizer for the vineyard. The wind carries the dried leaves of this marine plant from the sea, providing the vines with their nutrients. The Mediterranean breeze also creates a sea spray effect that gives the wine a distinctive salty note enveloped in elegant aromatic notes.
