Verdicchio Dei Castelli Di Jesi Umani Ronchi 'Vecchie Vigne' 2022
Prompt delivery if you order before 15:30,
This Verdicchio was created to enhance and preserve the qualitative and historical value of 10 hectares of old vineyards cultivated on the Montecarotto estate. The unique location and the excellent balance between vegetation and production of these old vines, planted in the early 1970s, allow the grapes to be harvested when they have reached perfect ripeness. The long aging period, first in concrete tanks on native yeasts and then in bottle, gives this Verdicchio cru its fullness and distinctive character.

Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Umani Ronchi 'Vecchie Vigne' comes from vines over forty-five years old, trained using the double arched system at approximately 250-300 meters above sea level on an east-facing hill. The very deep, clay-loam, and fairly cool soil represents the optimal conditions for a grape variety like Verdicchio. The yield per hectare is between 60 and 70 quintals. The harvest is done by hand, and the grapes are collected in crates. It usually takes place between the end of September and the first ten days of October, when the grapes have reached perfect ripeness. After a gentle pressing, the free-run must is quickly cooled and then static decanted. Fermentation, in steel tanks at a temperature ranging from 16 to 18°C, lasts 10-15 days. The wine does not undergo malolactic fermentation to preserve freshness and acidity. The aging process lasts approximately 10 months, during which the wine remains in contact with its fermentation yeasts in concrete tanks. Vecchie Vigne ages in the bottle for approximately 6 months before being released for sale.
