Gattinara 'Molsino' Nervi is produced in the oldest winery in the entire Gattinara area, north of Novara, founded by Luigi way back in 1906. It is produced exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes, locally known as Spanna, grown in the Molsino vineyard, at an altitude of between 350 and 420 meters above sea level on mineral-rich volcanic porphyry soils with a high clay content mixed with fine sand. The must obtained from the soft pressing of the grapes ferments in oak vats and concrete tanks. The final aging phase is lengthy and involves several stages: first, the wine is aged for 48 months in large oak barrels, then transferred to concrete tanks for six months. Finally, after bottling, the 'Molsino' ages for another six months in bottle before being released for sale.
