Castello di Ama's Chianti Classico was created in 2010, coinciding with the introduction of the Gran Selezione wine into the production regulations. It is a blend made almost entirely from grapes from new Sangiovese clones, planted and trained at 5,200 vines per hectare in Castello di Ama's four vineyards: Bellavista, Casuccia, San Lorenzo, and Montebuoni, and averaging less than eight to ten years old.
