Chianti Classico Querciabella 2021
Prompt delivery if you order before 15:30,
Querciabella Chianti Classico is produced with 100% Sangiovese from vineyards in Greve in Chianti, Radda in Chianti, and Gaiole in Chianti. In Greve, the Sangiovese vineyards enjoy a natural southern exposure. The soils, composed of sandstone and sand resulting from the flaking of galestro, are richer in clay at lower altitudes (350-400 m above sea level) and become progressively looser and more draining as they reach altitudes closer to 550 m above sea level. Similar characteristics are found in Radda (450 m above sea level), where the presence of galestro is even more evident. At 500 m above sea level, the soils in Gaiole are rich in calcium carbonate and characterized by the strong presence of limestone, or Albarese, rocks. The viticulture has been organic since 1988 and biodynamic since 2000. The wine ages for 12 months in fine- and medium-fine-grain barriques (225 liters) and tonneaux (500 liters), 10% of which are new. Products of animal origin are banned from all stages of cultivation and winemaking.

Querciabella Chianti Classico has been the centerpiece of Querciabella's winemaking activities since the winery's inception. A balance of acidity, flavor, and pure varietal fruit character, it represents the pinnacle of Sangiovese grown on perfectly exposed, high-hillside vineyards. Its complexity and consistency come from sourcing grapes from the finest vineyards, located in three of the appellation's finest subzones. The grapes are carefully selected in the vineyards and harvested by hand. They are destemmed, crushed, and fermented in a combination of stainless steel and oak tanks. Maceration lasts approximately 12 days. After completing full malolactic fermentation, the wine is transferred to French oak barriques and tonneaux. The wine is racked regularly throughout the maturation period, which can last up to 14 months. At the end of the élevage, the finest lots are selected and assembled to create the final blend. Once bottled, the wine patiently rests for at least three months before being released. This careful maturation adds a layer of smoothness and enhances the varietal fruit notes typical of quality Sangiovese. Querciabella Chianti Classico is, in fact, a perfect pairing wine; its crispness and roundness make it perfectly suited to a wide variety of dishes. No animal products or by-products are used in the production of this wine, making it suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
