Etna Rosso A'Rina Girolamo Russo is produced with a blend of 94% Nerello Mascalese and 6% Nerello Cappuccio, grown in the San Lorenzo, Feudo, and Calderara Sottana areas. The vines are mostly very ancient, some exceeding 100 years old. Their roots are sunk in a unique terrain: the many layers of lava that the great volcano has erupted over the millennia. And each lava (as Sicilians call old lava, according to the Arabic etymology) holds a different mineral reserve for the grapes. Sometimes it even lends its name to a district, where the vineyards often fill narrow terraces, held up by dry-stone walls of lava. And so, among lava, ash, and broom, each district has its own character, its own voice: engraved in the terroir that covers it, and which Giuseppe expresses in his wines.
