The Dolce&Gabbana and Donnafugata Tancredi, named after one of the protagonists of The Leopard, a never-ending source of inspiration for Dolce&Gabbana as well. In the novel and the film of the same name, Tancredi is the Prince of Salina's favorite nephew, due to his charm and ability to adapt to change. Passionate and unmistakably Sicilian, Tancredi was created in 1990 from a blend of a native and an international grape variety, which was innovative for its time. Dolce&Gabbana curated the image for the Limited Edition of this 'revolutionary' wine, paying homage to The Leopard itself, and in particular to the contrast between tradition and modernity that Tancredi embodies. While the gold, blue, and sinuous, Baroque-inspired lines celebrate the glories of the declining aristocracy, the red, green, and pointed geometric figures hark back to the new revolutionary values that were taking hold in Sicily after the unification of Italy, heralding the island's contemporary history.
