Macchiona La Stoppa takes its name from the estate's original structure, which was once divided into two parts: one called Stoppa and the other Macchiona. Macchiona is the name of a farmhouse nestled among the vineyards of the most traditional red varieties of the Piacenza Hills, and this wine faithfully reflects its characteristics.

Macchiona La Stoppa pairs well with first courses with sauce, white meat, and pizza.

Macchiona La Stoppa is produced with a blend of 50% Barbera and 50% Bonarda. The first vintage was 1973. It is organically grown with spontaneous grassing, without the use of any fertilizers, weed killers, or pesticides. Vinification is done with maceration on the skins for 40 days in steel and/or concrete tanks. It ferments spontaneously with indigenous yeasts and ages in 15- and 20-hectoliter Slavonian oak barrels, 40-hectoliter wooden vats, and in bottle for the necessary time, without filtration and without the addition of sulfur dioxide. This is a Triple A-rated wine: farmers, artisans, artists.
