Tasca D'Almerita's Rosso del Conte was created in 1970, the first expression of great quality and longevity produced in Sicily. Conceived and created by Count Giuseppe, it embodies the characteristics of the Tenuta Regaleali estate. Originally made with Perricone and Nero d'Avola, it is grown using the alberello (bush-trained) method in the San Lucio vineyard. Its long history has seen numerous evolutions, including various aging methods (large chestnut barrels from 1970 to 1987, large Slavonian oak barrels until 1991, and subsequently French oak tonneaux and barriques). It was the first ''single vineyard'' wine in Sicily.
