Hofstatter's ''Kolbenhof'' Gewürztraminer is produced from a selection of grapes from the Kolbenhof estate in Tramin-Termeno, one of the great crus of Alto Adige Gewürztraminer, thanks to its unique microclimate, ideal location, and the age of the vines. The grape variety bears the name of its hometown, and here at the Kolbenhof it finds the ideal growing conditions to develop the best aspects of its character.

Hofstatter's ''Kolbenhof'' Gewürztraminer is produced exclusively from the eponymous grape variety grown on the Kolbenhof estate. The grapes are lightly pressed and the must is left in contact with the skins for several hours to enhance the varietal characteristics. After gentle pressing and sedimentation of the must, it ferments at a controlled temperature. After fermentation, the Kolbenhof Gewürztraminer ages for 8 months on the fine lees. The fine lees are gently stirred weekly (battonage).
