Franciacorta ist ein italienischer Schaumwein, der nach der klassischen Methode hergestellt wird, d.h. mit Nachgärung in der Flasche. Der Ursprung des Namens findet sich in mehr als einem historischen Zeugnis, von denen sich das anerkannteste jedoch auf die "curtes francae" bezieht, die benediktinischen Gerichte, auf deren Territorium Zollfreiheit herrschte. Franciacorta wird auch in den Versionen Rosé und Satèn hergestellt: Letztere ist eine echte Besonderheit der Appellation, mit einzigartigen Eigenschaften, die insbesondere mit dem geringeren atmosphärischen Druck in den Flaschen zusammenhängen.
