Toki means 'time' in Japanese, a concept rich in meaning in Japan, where respect for tradition and modernity have always unleashed a powerful energy. Suntory was the first company in Japan to believe in Japanese whisky; in 1923, Shinjiro Torii built Yamazaki, Japan's first distillery dedicated to whisky. He also produced the first Japanese single malt, Shirofuda or White Label, in 1929.
