Generous when young, it becomes frugal, if not stingy, with yields as it ages. Formerly neglected due to its low yields, it is now being re-evaluated as a pure variety. It produces wines with vibrant color, a complex bouquet, and elegant tannins. It ages in French and American oak barrels for six months.
