Lungarotti's Torgiano Rosso Riserva 'Vigna Monticchio' is produced exclusively from Sangiovese grapes grown in the vineyard of the same name on the Brufa hill. The soil is of lake origin, but with considerable pedological variability: layers of clay alternate with sandy layers, the latter more common in the lower part of the vineyard. Vinification involves fermentation in stainless steel and maceration on the skins for 25-28 days. It ages in fine-grained oak barrels and barriques for approximately 12 months and for 5 years in bottle.
