The Rosso di Montalcino Canalicchio Di Sopra comes primarily from vineyards located in the Canalicchio Cru, on soils with a strong clay component, very rich in intermediate elements such as magnesium, iron, and manganese. In some vintages, small percentages may also come from the Montosoli Cru. It is vinified in steel tanks with controlled fermentation temperatures, with gentle daily pumping over. It macerates on the skins for 20 days. It ages for 12 months in 50-hl Slavonian oak barrels and 750-liter French oak barrels.
