Carpano Punt-mes Vermouth was born in 1870. It is said that a stockbroker entered the Carpano shop in Turin discussing the stock market's rise of one and a half points and ordered a Carpano Vermouth spiked with half a dose of China. The new Vermouth was an immediate success, and the anecdote inspired the creation of a new product that featured the dialect expression Punt e Mes, referring to the stock market, on the label.
