Romanée-Conti 2017 is a legendary red wine, a jewel of Domaine Drc. The history of this domaine dates back to 1232, when the Abbey of Saint Vivant received a gift of a plot of land in Vosne-Romanée. In 1760, the Prince of Conti acquired the property but lost it twenty years later during the French Revolution. Over the following decades, Romanée-Conti changed hands several times until 1869, when it was purchased by Jacques-Marie Duvault Blochet, a winemaker and owner of other prestigious vineyards. With Duvault Blochet, the estate finally found continuity: the current owners, the De Villaine and Leroy families, are none other than the descendants of his two daughters. The exceptional nature of Romanée-Conti stems firstly from the unique characteristics of the soils, rich in limestone and clay, and secondly from the unique expertise with which the vines are cultivated and the wines are crafted. The vineyards are managed biodynamically, with very low yields.
