Retsina Kourkaki is a wine made from Roditis grapes that are added with 1 kg/L of pine resin during fermentation. It seems that this traditional Greek wine takes its name from this bizarre addition. In ancient times, the resin was used to insulate amphorae to reduce oxidation of the wine. However, over time, the resin seeped into the interior, giving the drink that extra something that still makes it unique today.
