Donnafugata's 'Sur Sur' Grillo is made with an ancient native Sicilian grape, but it's also a cute little lucky charm. The name Sur Sur, meaning cricket, comes from classical Arabic, once spoken in Sicily. The label evokes the scents and colors of spring. It tells the story of Gabriella, a little girl (founder of Donnafugata with her husband Giacomo), running barefoot through the flowers and fresh grass, following the crickets' song, which to her ears sounds as sweet as a thousand 'Sur Sur…'

Donnafugata's Grillo 'Sur Sur' is produced with grapes grown in Western Sicily on the Contessa Entellina estate, in the hilly hinterland between Marsala and Salemi (the districts of Baiata, Alfaraggio, and Pioppo). The grapes are harvested between the first and second ten days of September, while some Grillo vineyards in the higher districts are harvested in the last ten days of September. It ferments in stainless steel at a temperature of 14-16°C, with aging in tanks for two months and at least three months in bottle before being released for sale.
