Brunello di Montalcino La Poderina is produced with 100% Sangiovese Grosso grapes grown in the hilly areas of Castelnuovo dell'Abate, Montalcino, in the province of Siena. The grapes are harvested by hand, and the wine ferments with maceration in steel tanks at a controlled temperature (24°-28°C) with daily pumping over and délestage. At the end of alcoholic fermentation, a post-fermentation maceration takes place at 29°C. After racking, the wine, still retaining a good amount of fine lees, is transferred to oak barrels where malolactic fermentation takes place with weekly batonnage for approximately 4 months. After this period, it continues to age for another 20 months.
