In summary
How to taste it
Visual tasting
Amber.
Olfactory tasting
Initially, smoke, tar, a hint of peat ash and damp peat moss. It then develops into candied orange, pepper, chocolate, amaretto, vanilla, and finally lemon meringue cake.
Taste tasting
Dry peat smoke, iodine, and oak combine perfectly. Hints of mint, melon, vanilla, chocolate, marzipan, and myrtle fade as the peat smoke lingers, as always, the last flavor to linger.
Bruichladdich's Octomore Edition 9.1 is the most peated single malt Scotch whisky series, handcrafted by the Progressive Hebridean Distillers of Bruichladdich on the remote island of Islay. It is a limited and numbered edition crafted from stratospherically peated Scottish barley. It matures entirely in warehouses located on the western shores of Loch Indaal for eight years in American oak casks. A cult classic with a devoted following, it is bottled at the distillery without filtration or artificial coloring.
