The Chianti Classico 'Castello di Brolio' Gran Selezione Barone Ricasoli is made from the finest Sangiovese grapes from the vineyards adjacent to Brolio Castle, which grow on three main geological formations: Macigno del Chianti (sandstone), Scaglia Toscana (marl), and Monte Morello (alberese). The vineyards are located at an altitude between 250 and 450 meters above sea level, with a south/southwest exposure. The high gravel content, perfect exposure, and optimal soil altitudes define this wine's unique character. Fermentation and maceration on the skins take place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature of 24°C. Aged for 23 months in 500-liter tonneaux, 30% of which are new and 70% used a second time.
