Birra del Borgo nasce nel 2005 a Borgorose (Rieti), un piccolo paese al confine tra Lazio ed Abruzzo, nella riserva naturale dei Monti della Duchessa. Nel vecchio birrificio di Colle Rosso vedono la luce le prime birre che avranno un grande successo e faranno conoscere Birra del Borgo in tutto il mondo: la ReAle, la DucAle, la Duchessa. La produzione inizialmente è tutta ad alta fermentazione, con rifermentazione in bottiglia, influenzata dalle tradizioni brassicole inglese e belga.
Nel 2009 viene inaugurato il nuovo birrificio di Spedino, poco distante da quello già esistente, ampliato con nuovi tini di fermentazione e una nuova linea di imbottigliamento.
