Mount Gay Rum

Barbados ospita la più antica distilleria ancora in attività. La distilleria Mount Gay infatti è attiva dal lontano 1703 (ma si presume la piantagione esistesse già dalla metà del 600), anche se nel corso della sua storia ha cambiato nome. Nata come Mount Gilboa, fu poi acquistata a metà 700 da Sir John Gay Alleyne, che ne fece una delle Distillerie più importanti dell’Isola. Dopo la sua morte si decise di cambiare il nome della distilleria in Mount Gay, in suo onore.
