Non-alcoholic wines and spirits are an increasingly popular choice in the beverage market today, a suitable choice for those who want to reduce their alcohol intake for health reasons or for those who must avoid alcohol completely for religious, ethical or legal reasons.
The production process of dealcoholized wine begins in a similar way to that of traditional wine: quality grapes are harvested, pressed and fermented to transform sugars into alcohol and it is only at a later stage that technology intervenes to remove alcohol from the wine. There are several techniques for dealcoholizing wine, the most commonly used being low-pressure distillation and reverse osmosis. Furthermore, dealcoholized wine contains fewer calories than traditional wine, making it a lighter and healthier choice for those with health problems, while also retaining many of the beneficial properties of regular wine, thanks to the presence of polyphenols and antioxidants.
Not just wine: many non-alcoholic spirits are produced using the same techniques, among which gin undoubtedly stands out.
