Franciacorta is an Italian sparkling wine produced with the Classic Method, i.e. with refermentation in the bottle. Its disciplinary provides for its production in various municipalities in the province of Brescia, in the wonderful landscape south of Lake Iseo, allowing the use of Chardonnay, Pinot Nero, Pinot Bianco and Erbamat grapes (the latter inserted in very recent). The origin of the name is to be found in more than one historical testimony, the most accredited of which however refers to the "curtes francae", the Benedictine courts on whose territory there was exemption from paying duties. Franciacorta is also produced in the Rosé and Satèn versions: the latter is a real typicality of the appellation, with unique characteristics linked in particular to the more modest level of atmospheric pressure contained in the bottles.
